I've got tickets booked for the Montreal Grand Prix. We were only going to be in town for a day so I took the general admission as the stands were 3 day passes only.

Anyway i've got 2 questions for anyone thats been to the race before.

Are there any particulary good spots in the general admission areas to get some good shots?
Maybe an area that is raised so you can see over the crowd / fence?

Second question, i'm going to rent a long reach lens. These are the ones i'm considering. Would you recommend one of these or something different

> Sigma 50-500 F4-6.3 - Maybe a bit slow
> Canon 100-400 F4.5-5.6 IS L
> Canon 70-200 F2.8 IS L - Maybe with a 1.4X extender

Thanks for any tips you can provide!

I sat in 24 at the exit of the hairpin (those were our seats) and got some decent shots from there

33 is a good spot as well as in between 24 and 15 is another big spot (there were like 6 guys with monopods and super teles all standing at the top of a little hill).

I shot at a mets game on mother's day with a 300 f/4. f/4 was a bit too slow for baseball ...f/2.8 would have been way better. It also comes down to your seats and how good you want your shots. If your just taking photo's for your self 100-400 or 70-200 f/2.8. If you end up getting/using a 100-400 bump your ISO up to like 800 this way at f/5.6 you can keep your shutter speed up. If you want a prime rent/get a 400 f/2.8 (I would rent its like 5k).

My $.02 on it
