Yesterday I shot the Reds @ Astros spring training game and it'll be a day one young man will never forget -- he's seven years old and he was living a "Make a Wish" trip to Astros ST. Prior to the game he played catch with some of the staff, he got autographs on his baseball, he sat in the dugout, he threw out the ceremonial first pitch then he sat with coaches during the game. It was a good day for me too -- nice overcast sunlight plus Mike (MJPhotos24) was there and we shot side by side most of the game. Here are a few pics from the day.

Colors and crop all look good Jerry, you have to love the overcast days instead of the harsh sun. Good stuff as always!

and just in case no one else got one as good, you should donate a print of your shot of the lad to him! Great photo!

And awesome shot of JR. Still has the sweetest looking swing. Even when its a grounder...still...smooth!

Jerry,

Very nice, as always, I too like the effect that the overcast day produced.
You know the luck I have with sun, shadow and exposure.

Enjoy the final week of ST

Thanks, folks! I'm ready for spring training to end and the season to start. Three more ST games to shoot then the minor league season starts April 3 -- my kind of baseball!

This is one of several shots in a high speed burst -- it's my favorite of the bunch but I'm gonna send his folks a CD with all his images on it. They're high enough resolution that they can make posters for his wall from them if they want to.

Hey Jerry - great stuff man. I almost made it down this year, but real work kept me honest. Heading down through your way on 95 next weekend on my way to Miami and then back up the other way the following weekend. I will have to see if there are any games going on maybe I can sneak into and click off a few innings worth. Love the peg leg stretch in 3 - always fun to have something new to give ya something to shoot. Cheers!

I always admire your shots and like always these are great too. Not that my baseball career lasted past highschool but being an old catcher I have to love the last pic you posted, always my favorite time in a game when someone tried to come into my area. Thanks for sharing.

Nice Jerry. Solid mechanics by the Make-a-Wish kid ... from the looks of his grip, it appears he's about to drop the hammer. I don't know about Berkman's chops. Makes him look fat. :) Diggin' the Bronson shot.

Hey Jerry, sittin in the nice cold now right now; I'll have to post some to compare - though I know I didn't get that Towles shot, holy crap that's good - I don't even remember that happening!! Was it early in the game when I was at the minor league complex?

Lance Berkman is the living incarnation of "Fat Elvis."

Love the play at the plate Jerry. I'm always at the wrong side of the field when ever there is a play at the plate (or I'm way too tight).
