Right - I've just about thawed myself out from my day at Canada Heights for the British MX Championship.

Twas wet, cold and very windy. But the racing made it worthwhile.

So - on to the pictures!

#1 - Snow in the morning. Not proper snow, as I'm sure I'll be corrected by people who live outside of the South East - but snow none the less. With the wind and the damp I was considering packing up and heading home by lunchtime. But that'll be because I'm from Kent and therefore a Southern Jessie.

#2 All that snow and rain had made things a bit damp underfoot by the first race. Mmmmm - tasty mud....

#3.... which made for some nice rooster tails...

#4... and some nice slipslidey action.

#5 Things had started to dry up by the afternoon and close racing was the order of the day.

#6 Holeshot!

#7 The trick to staying clean? Stay at the front! The main man shows us how in MX-1.

#8 And a pan to finish.

C&C very welcome - I'd be really grateful for feedback.

All the best.

Dave.

PS - It'll be good to see how anyone else got on here, or what was going on over at the other side of the hill at Brands. BD.

WazzaReally like the panning shots.

I had no idea there's a moto x track just down the road from me

Thanks Wazza.

This was my first time at Canada Heights or any moto-x for that matter.

Very good fun all in all, but was very, very cold and muddy. By the time I'd made it back to the car park, each of my boots weighed in at 300 tonnes each with the amount of hillside adhered to them!

The track is just off the same road as Brands. If you're coming from the M25, pick up the A20 and take the lane on the left just after the council depot.

Website is

This looks like it was their main event for the year - but the other stuff should be pretty good fun. It's just up the road from me too - so it's one of those places you can stick your head out of the window on a Sunday morning and decide that you're going to pop along to. Although making an evaluation of the weather didn't enter into things on Sunday!

Had such a good time I was thinking of at least going to a few more meetings - even if they're on a smaller scale - and perhaps going to another round of the British Championship or even the GP at Mallory in June.

Cheers for all that info.

I was at Brands today catching up with some other POTN friends, and getting snowed on watching the trucks

I'm just off the A2, about 15miles away really

Ah, how I remember working on the bikes in that weather! I used to be a mechanic for Suzuki and Kawasaki MX teams here and abroad. Brings back great memories.
Thinking about getting back into sports photography now and purchasing a 70-200mm F2.8 IS lens.
Love your shots. Should have gone into the pits and got the mechanics cleaning the bikes and riders afterwards. That makes a good shot.
