A good camera will be able to execute your ideas and inspiration to their full potential, but if your ideas and inspiration are crap, no camera in the world is going to help.

Bingo...

As an aside, sadly, you have just identified my personal situation.

This is really a silly question. You can give a person a good camera, and if they are willing and able to learn, teach them how to take a good picture with it. Some people learn quicker than others and some just don't want to take the time and effort to learn.

So...
Can anyone with a good camera take good pictures? Yes (accounting for mental and physical limitations)

Does everyone with a good camera take good pictures? No

Can anyone with good golf sticks play golf??

Listen, any chump like Tiger Woods can shoot par or below. What a waste of money. Do what I do! I spend the same amount of money on the golf course, but I[SIZE=3] [SIZE=3]get more swings for my dollar than any of those chumps on the pro circuit! If you aren't getting 100 swings or more every 18, you are wasting your money!!! AND I get to see more of the golf course than any of them. I get to drive the cart longer. Visit the beer girl more... It's all about value.:D

Speaking of Tiger Woods, I read and article about the guy who custom makes his putters, Scott Cameron. $7,000 each. I thought I would get one and go win a Masters Tournament.

So no a good camera won't make those snap shots of your ugly kids look good.

Some folks with great stuff take bad images.
Some folks with lousy stuff take good images.
But... most good photographers have good stuff.

I said the same thing to surgeon friend of mine and he was not amused. "Yours is hardly life threatening work."

BS...

Ever dissapoint or p*ss off an editor?

Don't tell me they don't think lives hang in the balance.

 oh so true. I know a guy who seems to equate a sharp, in-focus photo with a 'good' photo, as if it's some kind of achievement.

For some of us Perry, it is a big achievement. :D
