Guys

In about 4 weeks we are headin on our trip I mentioned before (Hong Kong, Sydney, NZ and Fiji).

I am trying to decide what lenses to bring with me! I dont want to be laiden down all the time but I want to have most things covered where possible.

At the time we go I will have the following gear:

5D/20D bodies
17-40 F4 L
24-105 F4 IS L
70-200 F4 IS L
50mm F1.8

Filters: Cokin P Series (wide angle) with ND4 Grad, ND8 Grad, ND4, CPL

At the minute I have the Mini Trekker AW bag, but I also have an Orion Trekker (free with Practical Photography subscription). I want to bring my Macbook as well so I was thinking about the Tamrac Adventure 9 (external link) cos I can get a good amount of kit in it as well as the Macbook. But its rather big!!

I would appreciate any input (especially from peeps who have been there, done it).

Thanks

When you said "we",,,are you bringing a caddy?? If so I'd take the lot, split the gear between the two of you..Remember to carry your gear on..

That is really not alot to take on a trip. Take it all.

I have an AW Trekker and I put 16-35 f/2.8, 24-70 f/2.8,100-400 4.5-5.6, 70-200 f/2.8, 24-105 f/4, a 580 flash, a filter wallet, a couple of 1 series bodies and a number of other accessories. If I have someone travelling with me we add a smaller bag with more stuff.

I always go with a laptop and a couple of external drives.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Have to try and keep the weight to a minimum as we are doing a helicopter transfer in Fiji and they have very low weight restrictions!!!

I'd leave the 20D and maybe 17-40mm at home but I like to travel as light as i can. The 17-40mm is pretty small so I might pack it if I had room and mainly for NZ.
