Never had a problem. Those bodies are the newer pro bodies. I've had people with older bodies and some Rebel bodies, that won't let you update firmware unless you use something with a smaller card. We want the features these cameras can offer (5D Mark II and 7D), Disabling AGC is a kids game, even some P&S pocket cameras have Manual Audio control... There is a BIG incoherence and inconsistence between Canon EOS DSLR camera models. At this point Canon should fix AGC on 7D, but also some other things on the 5D Mark II (and 7D). Check the above link for a brief list of features that can be implemented via Firmware Update. = HD Cam Team =

Sure, there's a risk. But it is small. Just read all the instructions first before doing it. EOS 5D Mark III

Like Tgara said there is a small risk, but there is a risk with any thing you do in life, but if you follow Canons directions you should have no problem. Make sure you have a fresh battery, check to see the file size you downloaded matches what Canon says on there website (9.16mb for ver. 1.0.9) and do not touch the camera once you start the upload and you should be fine. Canon 7D, 5DmkIII and a lens or two for each.

I updated my 7D yesterday with my grip on and 2 batteries at 67%. When it was done updating they were both reading 66%. Not much energy used. BTW, I notice no difference in the way my 7D works. 7D/BG-E7 - 580EXII - EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM - EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM - EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM - in a Domke F-2RW
