Very nice lighting but I think the background kills it.

The background doesn't bother me. Gives it a sense of place. Nice use of light. I dig it.

You didn't need to steal it just set up your shot differently so there is not so much crap in the background. Looks to me like if you would have moved to the right about two feet and shot back to your left just a bit you would have fixed the problem. Hey, if you like it that is all that matters. Have a good day.

The trees and rocks are not a problem for me, like RonnieA noted, it gives a sense of place. I find the telephone poles, wires, building and whatever that is laying in the path behind the action to be distracting from the excellent image you captured. Please don't get me wrong, I really like your shot. I really like your lighting, angle and everything about the subject area. If the background was cleaner in my opinion it would turn a very good picture into a great picture.

A couple of the people who have been my mentors over the years are big sticklers for clean backgrounds whenever possible so I tend to notice it more than most. I also realize sometimes there is nothing you can do about it either.

Sorry if I sounded like I was bashing your shot.

Hey sportsphoto, nice avatar! ;) Go Pack!

I like the picture, I don't think the background is distracting at all.

all my lights are fired off the camera, via pocket wizard. just a matter of placement, compensating for the sun, etc. :D good luck!
