Ok...this could fall under EOS cameras OR raw processing and workflow. I will post this question here, and if the gods feel it should be moved then please do so.

How many of you out there convert their 1d raw files with ACR, Lightroom, or DPP? I ask this because, depending on what I am shooting, i get mixed results. for example, when shooting people I noticed ACR sucks. colors are all wrong and way too contrasty. DPP works best for me. as for landscapes, ACR seems to have the edge, unless there are a lot of reds. reds for some reason come out like crap using ACR and the 1D, though they look natural using DPP. i have not used lightroom, but assume the results would be the same as ACR. here is an example of what i mean with the reds. the following shots were processed with both ACR and DPP. white balance identical with gray card. for what its worth ACR works great for all of my 5d files.

notice the natural reds

this is the adobe rendition

again...the notebook really is more of a brick color

not supposed to be magenta

Try calibrating ACR.

There is a threadhere concluding the same.

ACR should be calibrated to your specific camera body to give anywhere near good colors.
(at least for some cameras)
