Older 1d's using faster memory cards?

Just wondering if using the newer, higher speed memory cards (Extreme Sandisk) with the older 1D/1Ds models, is worth it from a performance standpoint?

With a fast card reader they will download to your PC faster, that would be the biggest difference.
