the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, and vice versa - BUT remember in this scenario, the eye is part of the BRAIN not part of the body (in that the cross-over from left to right happens in the base of the brain or spinal cord, below where the eyes attach the brain), so it makes sense that right-handed people would be left-eyed.

seems potn has a great deal of 'exceptions' LOL dont know whats going on there ;-)a

I'm right handed and shoot with my left eye (something I had to think about as I do it subconsciously). I also have the right side of the camera facing up :)

A bunch of Canon bits and pieces.

Right eye, right handed, shutter is always up, but I use a grip on all my cameras.

Right Handed
Left Eye (NEVER considered using my right eye...tried it, just does not work!)
Shutter down (usually wearing a hat outside...thus button down)
Need to get a grip...

Left handed
Right eye dominant
Gripped body, but otherwise shutter button up anyways.

I usually PREFER the shutter down with top of camera facing right side(right handed), as I think it is more stable. This may or may not be so, but since I firmly believe in it as a strong rifle shooting platform, I use it most of the time with the camera as well.

Man, I feel odd. I am right handed and still use my right eye (dominant eye).

Doesn't feel right any other way.

I'm right handed and left eye dominant but I learned to shoot with my right eye probably because most of the little cameras that I used had the viewfinder on the left. I find that it is an advantage now that I can use my left eye to scan the area while my right eye is on the viewfinder.

Left-handed, left eye, and turn the shutter release down so, as others have said, I can tuck that right arm into my chest for stability, grip (1D3) or no grip (everything else). It also lets me set the flash bracket up so it's out of my way when I'm using a flash. With the bracket out to the left, my right hand's free to reach the camera's grip (as distinct from the "vertical grip").

"you turn your rifle sideways to shoot? "

No, just have an arm close to body for support.

I would also add that it depends on which side you may have some foreground for fill flash. I would in that situation tend to position the flash head toward the side of the foreground.

Cheers,
Mark.
