I had absolutely zero interest in shooting any kind of sporting event at all until I saw this thread.
It was shot with a 70-300. I found that lens on B&H. I also looked into the 100-400L. I figured if I'm gonna spend $1000 on a lens, might as well spend the extra $400 and get 100mm more plus an "L" series lens.
But, all that said (and this is long into the future...probably 6 months or more), I need to find some way to make sure my camera and lens don't get wet. Now, I've been to wakeboarding tourneys before, and you can give about a 99% guarantee that you won't get wet. But, there could be the occasional wet dog drying itself, the occasional spray off the water, or the occasional wet boarder walking around near you that you didn't see.
I don't want to buy a waterproof casing for my DReb (as I don't want to spend the $1500). But, I do need to make sure the DReb doesn't get wet. I've heard that using a plastic bag...maybe a ziploc type bag would work well. But, i would think that a bag would end up being very limiting as far as zoom goes, and it might be a bit tricky to make sure you hit the shutter button correctly at times. Plus, on top of that wouldn't a ziploc bag actually cause degredation in picture quality?
Thanks in advance
