Okay, so at $495 it's not for everyone... ;)

But if you're dying to try your own hand at designing some lenses, here's your chance. Stumbled on this application today on the interwebs:

I suspect you don't know enough about the Tamron brand, history and products.

That's what you get for suspecting.

I was teasing, and the current Tamron EOS offerings are deserving of a good tease. ;)

Ummm... right... what you said...

Tamron makes 2 things right now. Some pretty sharp macro lenses with archaic AF motors and a crap-load of semi-affordable zooms, a couple of which are better than a Canon consumer lens, but still a notch or two below any of the Ls --- oh yeah, and the zooms also have archaic AF motors too. :-P

So very true. And I suspect the real lens houses out there use their own, much more advanced software... ;)

I wish, ha! And download one of those lens hoods to print out for it also... Heh.

I agree with you that today's Tamron AF lenses for DSLR are not the top of the lenses, but you have to consider their price too. Anyway, I was not referring to the current production, but the lenses produced in the 80s, when Tamron produced the SP line that was the L of that time, and was among the best set of lenses available. Tamron had a lot of brilliant patents at that time.

Yes, but the best of their SPs were so low in production that even today they are almost impossible to aquire. Go find me a 180mm/2.5 SP LD, for example.

I have been using this software to aid in the design of my Hyper extender 2400mm f/4L with Dual stage liquid cooled Image Stabilization, and black hole technology for more light gathering than traditional optics would allow.

You need to license the proton pack that powers the black hole generator, but I'm working with Canon CPS to help with the paperwork.

It will be able to see up to 32minutes into the past!!!!
