WOW, your HVX fits perfect. Without the camera block in place do you find the bag to be sturdy enough?

Yeah - The HVX fits much better when using the Pelican 1510 "divider set" because it's taller than the stock dakine block.

The sturdy factor is the same for both the the Dakine Block and the Pelican "divide set"..

Too lazy to take a picture, but this is what the Pelican "divider set" looks like. It's basically the same as the Dakine Block without the over the shoulder bag construction and lid.

Anyone know where I can find the Dakine Sequence 2000cu for under $139.99? Looked at backcounty.com and found a 20% off coupon online but really want that 50% off coupon!

I think that model is still pretty new to go on sale, unfortunately I tried to use the 50% coupon @ backcountry.com on the same backpack, but it was only for backcountryoutlet.com...maybe wait a while...

It's because you are too late to get the ole 2008 version. It's all sold out at the Outlet store. Your only choice is to get the 2009 version for $125. Still a great pack.

Have anyone checked out the Dakine Mission Pack? I'm trying to debate whether to get the Sequence or the Mission bag.

The Mission bag does not have a camera block; it's an ordinary backpack, if that's fine with you. The Mission Photo pack has the camera block like the Sequence.

I might add he was comparing 2009 models of both packs. I have the 2008 versions, and the Sequence is only a little bigger than the Mission Photo. The older packs have the accessory straps on the shoulder straps where you can attach a cell phone holder, etc. I don't know why Dakine discontinued them on the 2009 packs (to save money I guess).

The shoulder straps on the Mission Photo are beefier, ergonomically designed, and more comfortable, but they don't have the load lifters like on the Sequence.

yes it's what they're designed for but honestly it's a giant PITA to get to your gear in any backpack while on the hill. You have to set the bag down on what again? A slippery snowy hill? Brilliant. Add to that you may have your board/skis on the bag?

I prefer a chest pack/holster. Keeps your camera right in front of you in easy reach. Your pack then goes over that harness so it can come on/off w/o any issues.

$.02
YMMV

just wondering if anyone has added dividers to the camera block that comes with the dakine? what kind? and how did they work?

tumeg, it seems like this answer is probably going to be too late, but i dont think that all that will fit in the padded area. if you were ok with putting the stuff in non padded compartments it might fit.

For the record, Dakine won't sell you any extra ones that come with the monoblock separately, so you will have to dig up some on your own. Some dividers from another backpack might be a bit short in height, but should work.
