So I had my assistant photographer shoot my HS team's softball scrimmage. He had a few nice shots, but this is one of my favorite ... I just want to crop it. It was triple and the third baseman's leg is right where I want to crop.

<I think the outfield -actually Short stop cutting of the ball - really makes the photo>

Would you PS the leg out? or just crop? Advice and ideas wanted ...

You might have to rethink the crop. How about something like this?

I love the fact that the 3rd basewoman or basecoach is out of focus in the foreground... the problem for me is that there isn't a glove extended from her or a hand out showing the urgency of the baserunner.

That makes the fielder bothersome. If I had that same fielder with her arm out waiting for the ball in the frame... the original crop becomes really good. If I had my druthers I'd photoshop her arm into it to complete that shot. If you cut the 3rd baseman out you lose much of the SS too... and the shot is lost.

Tough spot. I feel for ya. Great shot tho.

do you want to show the full story or just a photo of the girl running. I like the story and would crop for it. when you lighten the shadows you can see her looking at the 3rd baseman (basewoman?) so you know that is where she is going. The ball in the hand of the outfielder is clearly visable and she is pointed in the direction of the 3rd baseman, so it is telling the complete story. This is all personal opinion and no wrong way to crop, just different ways. The guy behind the outfielder is distracting to me and I would take him out if cropped this way.

Exactly what I did ... sharpened it a bit, I am also taking the leg out ... something about the focus/determination in the eyes of the runner that I really think makes the picture.
