Hi All!!

Recently got first DSLR and am really enjoying playing. Have stuck a 50mm 1.4 on there, and am finding a lot of joy in the photos that come out.

I would appreciate any comments on what I could do differently.

Welcome to the forums, this is a wonderful place for support and info..

The clarity in your photo's are really good and so is the dof.. You seem to be doing really good in the technical area from looking at these pic's but I see some work that is needed in the composition side of things.. The first photo looks decent but I personally don't like that she is looking off the frame like she is.. If she was placed on the other side of the frame it would give the impression that she is looking at something and not just off into space even if she was just thinking.. I find the person in the background a little distracting.. Other then that you are doing really good..

On to the 2nd photo.. Again the clarity, dof and color is right on. However I don't like the white empty space at the top. She is a lonely rider but a lonely rider of what? This photo doesn't tell the story at all.. On a photo like this I would have panned down to get more of a shot of the person.. Keep practicing and you will do just fine..

Oh I love the leading lines and repeating form on the photo of the steps.. Nice job on these.. I also like the boat one. Maybe crop that one in a tad and leave the boat off center it will be perfect.. Nice job on these..

One more thing. I don't know how it works in Flickr but you can post a the code so that your photo's show up in your post and not make people go directly to you flicker account. You will get more responses if you post the photo directly to your post..

Good luck and I look forward to seeing more of your work. :)

Thanks, those are very good points!! Now you mention it the person is distracting in the picture.

I will have more of a play with flickr, but I could not obviously see a way to link!!

Thanks for the feedback...i am really enjoying this.
