I had'nt planed on using the 600 in the hide as the distance would be to great for the bigma.

so I found up some m42 extention tubes making about 2" add this to the camera adapter and the CFD is now to within about 10ft .

The male chaffinch does'nt mind sitting for a while so I can get focus on live view and with 1200mm things are a little wobbly with the 5x on screen zoom.

so all this adds up to a full frame head and shoulders .:D

many thanks jason

Wow Jason, Great detailed shot! I have been using my 1.4 on the 400L for small birds to fill the frame with more of the bird, I am getting my best small bird shots this way.. Super job on this!

Great shot Jason. You're doing much better with teleconverters than I am.

That is absolutely sharp and amazing. If you take into account the 1.6x crop of your 40D you are effectively at 1920mm. Your tripod must have been rock solid.

That's the kind of shot that makes people want to be photographers. Excellent, and very well done.
