G3>Exposure Bracketing feature Disabled when I attach EX4

Procedure:

take the external flash off you G3 (i.e physically remove the EX420 from the hot shoe)
turn G3 on and set for exposure bracketing.

it works!!

now turn off the G3, and put the external flash back on your G3 but do not put the flash power on (ie. leave the EX420 power switch OFF)
turn G3 on and set for exposure bracketing.

...the exposure bracketing does not work - even when the flash power in off.

does this happen on the G5, G6 or other G3's?
If so, I find it quite annoying and a BUG in the firmware :((

It seems a bit awkwrd (IMO) to have to take the flash off to be able to use exposure bracketing.

does anyone know this also happens on the Pro1?
