I'm home from school. Just talked to my best friend from Cheyenne too. We havent talked in a while sadly. It's going to be nice to be back in Cheyenne in 2 months.

I bet it will be nice. I frequently go often without talking to friends.

If I were a diver that would be cool. At most I am a recreational diver. I have to rent my gear when I go. So it wouldn't be worth the inverstment for me.

I concur. Renting is better.

I work at a dive shop, own all my gear and really really want to shoot u/w but I'm not really willing to waste money on a p&s so I think it would kiiiiiiind of be worth while. I'd rather have the quallity stuff (not saying that noink is quallity), but I want something better than a p&s. I guess I'll just have to save up until next year

There is nothing wrong with a PnS. You aren't going to find a lot of art in a quarry.

FuryMe wrote in post #5441131 (external link)
I looked at the link, just don't know a whole lot about under water photography other then I wouldn't want to hope the case seals my expensive camera.

I think I would rent gear at a dive shop when needed. Seems like expensive equipment to have just for a once in a while endeavor.

I concur.

ssidiv3r wrote in post #5441149 (external link)
The housings are very well known and high quallity. I'm hoping to go diving more often so that's not a problem but my shop doesn't have any cameras to rent. The only thing they have are the Sea&Sea (I think) p&s cameras and I'm not sure how well they would work, especially in murky quarry water

Seriously kitten, get over it. PnS cameras are FINE!!! There are plenty of things you need to think about to keep yourself alive underwater without having to worry about camera settings and such. In a quarry you don't have to worry about current and such but take it from me, trying to take a shot of anything while getting pushed along even with a point and shoot. You'd have to really KNOW your gear in order to handle that kind of situation. And honestly, what are you really going to see in a quarry. Brown fish in brown water? Not high on my list to photograph.

ghostrider_9 wrote in post #5441199 (external link)
Honestly (I am not trying to be harsh here), I think your time would be better focused on honing your skills and learning about the art of photography. It's great that you are enthusiastic, but that needs to be tempered with a plan to improve your education on the subject and practice/improve your skills.

Hopefully this is taken in the same manner it is intended . . .

I concur!

Jeff Allred wrote in post #5441222 (external link)
Photographing ABOVE water can be challenging enough. I'd wait a few years before diving into the underwater photography. No pun intended ;)

I concur!

Anywho!

moving along! who had PB&J for lunch? not me.
I had this mutated rice stuff... a soup (which was good) and some squash (which was good, but needed salt)

Quit being a vegetarian then. Eat a nice, juicy cheeseburger. :D

uhhgg my lunch wasn't that great! I did get to eat outside though, and I think I may have gotten a sunburn :(

I want my legs to get sunburned, they are so white right now that it is scary!

Lunch for me today will probably be Ramen, but I haven't really decided yet.

I've decided to not care about being white. I'd rather be that way than have skin cancer. Plus, tanning and preggo is not exactly a winning combo. You can get enough skin discolorations anyway just from the hormones and adding sun on top of that can make them permanent.

The quarry is just practice for off-shore wreck dives, and I know my gear wel enough. Also, it's not what is already in the quarries that I want to shoot. I want to get shots of my Dad while diving and possibly have him take some shots of me because we don't have any of those kind of pictures.

Didin't you just hear me tell Jon I'd look into getting the A650, housing and strobe? Besides, u/w photography is what I think I want to do for a living

Yeah I am kind of that way as well, I am too cheap to go tanning, so it is either natural tan or white. Although I do use some of that moisturizer tanning stuff, it works well, but wears off too quickly, which is annoying.

I don't understand why people like fake tanning so much. Wouldn't it be nicer laying on a warm beach with a slight breaze instead of on a sticky table with black goggles on to block out the uggly blue light?

Please point me to a beach in WI. Or Brooke to one in UT.

And, you can get shots of your dad and you with a P&S just fine. And, I was referring to knowledge of your CAMERA gear.

I have never understood it either, they pay a lot to do it to, but I also don't have a nice beach to lay on so I am stuck with white legs.

I enjoy the occasional fake bake especially in the winter. It really warms me to the core and the UV light can help stave seasonal affective disorder.

Take a left at the end of the street and then drive for about a day :p

Oh, well, it would be easier to stick with the camera I already have instead of trying to learn a P&S.

Well I have never tried it actually, I just can't justify the money on it. (I would much rather save for camera gear, school, and a new Mac)

Well, it's not THAT riduculous here in some places. One place did a month unlimited for $30-40. To me that wasn't too bad. I'd just do it for a month and stop. My SIL is CRAZY when it comes to tanning. She buys 6 MONTHS at a time and goes at least every other day.

My guilty expenditure is getting my nails done every three weeks. But, it's not a vanity thing. I pick at my cuticles SO bad if I have natural nails that I make myself bleed. Fake nails make it impossible. Plus, I just have them put a layer of acrylic over my real nails and keep them pretty short so they don't look really fake. I'm lucky though, I have long nail beds so I can pull off short length and still have them look somewhat nice-when I have time to get them painted.

When we make something truely idiot proof they make a smarter idiot. I want quallity images, not images that look like some average joe shot them (no offence to any board members named joe). I want people to really be impressed with my shots
