My recent trips to the Philadelphia Flyers Games!
The first one is the Flyers vs Anaheim, the second one is Flyers vs. Ottawa and the third one is Flyers vs Atlanta. I was sitting in the sixth row for the Atlanta and Ottawa game and the 17th row for the Anaheim game. The glass was kind of in my way, there are some smudges in the pictures from the scratches in the glass, but i think they turned out really good. The shots are mostly still sohts because the people sitting in front of me were very tall and i couldnt see over there head, but at every stoppage of play i would stand up and try to take a good photo. These pictures are all straight out of the camera except for the cropping. This is also my first time shooting hockey so all critique will be helpful for me.
Thanks!!

Sorry dude, but they're not in focus, you're using too slow a shutter speed, there is no action, I see ONE puck, most are just from warm up..

There's really nothing to say.

they're not in focus and mostly just candid shots. not enough action shots. those would be perfect for people who just want a body shot, but if you want to be successful in shooting these kind of games, you mainly have to shoot action.

What lens did you use?
f5.6 is just not fast enough for this venue. All the pics are underexposed.
But as a Flyers fan, I appreciate the effort!

Try an F/2.8 if you can and at least a shutter speed of 1/500. You'll need to custom White Balance if you can and try some clean up in your favorite photo editor. Levels, Hue/Saturation, Unsharp Mask, even Shadow/Hightlights too if you can in Photoshop.

Action is key when shooting action sports and even during the pre-skate you can get some shots of them shooting so try that. Good try and just keep at it. Good luck!

I have to agree in saying that they are not as sharp as they could be, and that they are a bit underexposed. Open up your lens as far as it will go, if it won't go any farther than 3.5 then rent one that will. Try places like http://www.lensrentals.com (external link) or some of the others. It's worth it for those shots that can't be repeated. Good luck!

Under exposed, white balance is off and read the forum rules. Only 8 pics allowed per post.
