I did a shoot for a client's event where the agreement was that I would hand them a CD with all the pictures and give them rights to reproduce the pictures as they saw fit. Does anyone have a sample form that I can use for this purpose?

Thank you,
Ovi

Once you give them the negs or high res images on CD... you're giving up the rights.

Yes but a lot of places will not print the pictures for them unless they have a release from the photographer.

Just because you have the CD with high res images does not mean you have the right to reporduce them.
If that were the case all those music CDs I've copied would be leagal

I worked at a lab when I was in college. If you had negs (or CD), I would print the photos. If you had a print with a copy-write on the back I would not scan and print it without a letter signed by the photographer stating that it was okay to reproduce.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe that it is legal to copy a CD for personal use.

When you get the text form ready to sign, get a blank to refer to the number that is burned into the spindle area of the CD-ROM. That is the legal way to refer to the images of that one CD-ROM and no other.

Further, and this may be possible, I saw such a form where the photographer had tiny thumbnail images printed at the bottom of the form. That, also, pins it down to those images and not some others.

Thanks Bob. I was going to specify the range of picture numbers.
