I like number 2, good capture at the base. Both are fine to me. Welcome to the forum, share some more when you can. What set up did you use?

A bunch of equipment with Canon on it and some stuff with Sigma on it. The desire to capture a moment in time and share it with you! :)

number two is great, what base? Where were you? Were you lying on the ground?

Another question for the group. How often do you capture a shot like this? Do you get one every game? I just finished my second game and didn't get this caliber shot or even close...
www.caughtyoursmile.com (external link) check the sports category... and give me some feedback if you have time.

Thanks.

I would assume home plate, looks like catcher shin gaurds. Probably shooting throught the back stop fence.

Nice exposure and low angle on the first one and the second is a nice action capture but looks like it was shot through a chain link fence (been there a few times). Welcome to POTN.

Yes it was from home plate on the first base side through the back stop. I'm 16 and just started taking sports action shots a few months ago. I was actually sitting on the ground when this occured. Also, I usually get a nice shot similar to this one every game.

Yes - EXCELLENT shots! #1 is great. #2 is a nice capture but a little soft. #3 is good. The basketball shot isn't so great (too soft and underexposed) but indoor basketball is difficult under most situations.

For a 16 year old, I'd say you are well on your way. Well done!

Nice shots, but what comes to mind at once for me is that these need some cropping / re-framing work. The first one in particular is a good example of a nice shot that is almost lost into the abyss of the background, because it's so loose. Pull in closer either through optics or through post shot cropping, and that way you'll better bring out the emotion in her face and the action of the pitch. Fast pitch softball is a very interesting style to watch / photograph and there are many opportunities within the pitch to snag a cool shot. You just have to make sure you've got a balance between being to tight and cutting off important parts of the pitcher, and being to loose and therefore not shoving your subject into the viewer's face, if you will.

Just to keep shooting! You're already on the right track. Post more images that you like and keep asking the folks here for more C&C. I've found them to be very helpful, and all the C&C I've gotten has really helped me. Also, look at all the sports posts here, read the C&C, get new ideas, and learn from it.
