Ok you camera bag gurus:

1) thank you for your help in advance!

2) I'm looking for a bag that will store my canon dslr, and 4 lenses (tamron 17-50, canon60mm, canon70-300, canon WA) with a generous top (or other) compartment that can hold stuff like, a) sweater, b) rain jacket, c) pair of pants, and d) a few other small items (socks, bug repellent, etc).

Most camera bags hold the camera equipment but dont have much extra space for all the items I need to carry.

Anyone got any ideas? The tamrac 5550 seems to be my best bet based on my research.

Thanks!

Take a look at new Burton 28L. I went with Dakine Sequence myself for looks but I like Burton for extra big pockets which Dakine lacks. Before that I had North Face Recon. I also have North Face Solaris but it's way too roomy for daily use. I am staying away from traditional camera bag makers because they look like a camera bag and most don't have additional room for other necessities like lunch, snacks, or sweaters etc. I also like to carry 32oz water bottle as well.

I am very close to settling on the rotation 360. It seems perfect, everything is accessible yet you can put your stuff on your back if you need too... i just wish it wasnt so pricy!

I've got the 5547 (Adventure 7), and generally have been very happy with it, and it's great for wandering around a city all day.

Some observations though: It's a back-pack, so you have to take it off to access anything in it (but hey, it's a backpack, what was I expecting?); the mesh pockets on the side got caught once on a fence I was walking past, now I have a 2 inch gash in the mesh; when I get another lens, I'm going to have to get a larger bag; the top section is just a fraction too small to hold my Lonely Planet guide book comfortably along with all the other things (jacket, snack, maps).

But, all-in-all, I'm happy with the 5547 for my 40D, 17-85, 70-200 f/4, 430 EX, and a couple of filters. I carry most of my cables, chargers, etc. in a separate bag that I don't carry with me.

E.

I also have Rotation 360. Build quality is excellent but it doesn't hold much for the size. I hardly ever use it.
