I just bought this yesterday and am curious how long it usually takes to calibrate?

Set 6500K or Native (depending on screen).
Go for a luminance of about 100 Cd/m^2

Advanced...Easy mode only lasts about 3-4 minutes.

Ok so I got around to doing it and ended up with:
6500 kelvin
2.3 Gamma
99.3 cd/m2

Does this sound about right?
It doesn't look to bad just a little darker than what I am used to.
I have not attempted to make any prints yet.

I believe you'll want 2.2 gamma, as that seems to be the standard for a Windows machine. Older Mac standard was 1.8 gamma, but I think the newer ones target 2.2 as well (not sure on that one...don't do Macs)

Luminance is good for CRT (target=100). I think target for LCD is 120. Or, it could be the other way around. I don't have my calibrator with me, so I can't doublecheck those values from here.

IMO about 100Cd /m^2 is about right for LCD as well. (Unless you are in a very bright surrounding). I've mine (CRT) set to around 100 Cd/m^2, and prefer that to brighter.

The gamma 2.3 is a bit strange, but won't affect images in a color managed application. Images in a non color managed application will look a bit darker/conrastier.

I was just going by the suggested luminance settings in the calibration software. I know it's different for the two, as I have a dual monitor setup with a CRT and an LCD. I just can't remember which is recommended for which.

Ya I set it for 2.2 when doing it and when it was finished it said 2.3.
Although I had a hard time getting my blue centered in the table because according to my monitor controls I was at the limit already!

120 was WAY too bright for me. I tried 110 and 100, and then I finally ended up going down to 90 to make my prints look right. 90 is my magical number, a far cry from the program recommended 120.

When I was administering the monitors at a newspaper, I calibrated them all to 60. It was still too contrasty to accurately reflect newsprint, but everyone complained if I went any lower!

Yes, the cheaper LCDs will do that. Like René said, it's no biggie.
