that thread on how someone was kicked out of a starbucks parking lot for taking pictures reminded me of a couple times where i was told to leave for taking pictures. i left not knowing my rights, packed up and im sure missed some amazing shots. so i was just wondering where i can go to check out my legal rights as far as taking pictures goes. i dont want to go off of one of these articles someone wakes up and decides to write. they could be wrong for my area. just looking for a point in the right direction. thanks guys

My best advice is to talk to a local lawyer that is admited to the bar and knows something about photography and the law. I have found that most of the stuff on the internet is complete crap.

I don't think you have too many rights if you are on somebody else's private property.

This kind of an attitude isn't going to make you more welcome, that's for damn sure...

Good links, they are making some very interesting reading, thanks for posting. I have never had a problem photographing anything in over 40 years of shooting. I have been approached but never given a hassle abut taking pictures. Of course the attitude you start with when approached has a lot to do with what will happen next when you are approached, so smile. :D
