The player(s) with the ball in both images are soft. What focusing point were you using as in the first image number 22 in blue is sharp but the ball handler is not.

you're shutter speed may need to be kicked up a hair. I shoot nba games and since I don't use the strobes I have to have my shutter set to 1/500 to freeze the action. The ISO also had to go up to 1600 and I was using f/2.8 but I had to in order to get a decent shot.
It got me a shot like this...

I was using a 24-70 2.8 my ss was from 320 to 500 I must have hit it cause i had it up to 640 but when i looked down during the game it was there. no excuse however...

I am still learning and My AAU Team has a tournament this weekend so I am going to use it for practice...

I shoot a ton of youth basketball and I use an ISO of 3200 and use the center focus point only. Don't have anything to post right now.

i tried to do center but the dof was not the same.. the look of the photo was diff and I did not like that look.. i am still work on that...

I'll start by saying that these are better so well done on that. Crit-wise, your horizons are off which will have to be fixed and you're getting a considerable amount of softness on your main subjects. You really need to get on taht center point and then just keep practicing. It'll get there so don't worry, just keep shooting and work on steady hands and good timing.
