My street sees a lot of action. Movies are filmed here often. Shooter (external link), I, Robot (external link)etc. This week it is "I love you Beth Cooper". (external link)

I don't really care for the movie, but the action around is fun. They've blocked off my street again and given me a special pass to come and go with the car and such.

Wet road car chase at night. Filming along the street and in the car. I haven't seen the car rig in action yet, it happens long after I go to bed. The action goes from 6pm until 6am. A little noise form generators and the floodlights make me draw the blinds - but all in, it keeps my life from getting boring. It's all part of living in the city called "Hollywood North".

You can see the rig flying past my front door in the last shot. All cars are stationary waiting for the go ahead. You can see the giant light boom in the distance too. The cross street there (L to R) is the street Mark Wahlberg goes flying down, running from the Secret Service in Shooter (external link)- then ends up in the river. Lots of light filters the size of freezers, scrims the size of cars. All big goodies I'd like to have.

And this is one of the benches you see in #5, right out front of my building. The benches have Asimov's laws of robotics on them recognizing I,Robot. Apparently a gift from the production crew to the city.

We were in Vancouver when they filmed the second Fantastic Four. Equally poor movie but it was fun to see. It was interesting seeing all of the New York taxis running around. Oh yeah, also fun trying to sneak a peak at Jessica Alba, although her double was better looking.

Yeah, I was walking around with TheHoff recently and saw about 50 NYC taxis parked on the street. Typical.

When Alba was here doing Dark Angel my friend Nigel was doing a lot of cop cars replicas for Smallville etc. Dark Angel needed a flat black sportbike and I volunteered mine to him. I got to drive around in an all white cop car that looked like FBI issue for a couple days. That was bizarre. People drive SO WELL around you when you are in a replica Crown Vic...

You are lucky to be able to be right in the middle of that and to able to shoot all of it, but I guess if it happens all the time you would get tired of it sooner or later.

My strata got $1000 for the trouble too. I have no problems with that.

We have lots of those too here. The communities mostly don't like them because they create traffic, and people cannot park their cars because the huge and numerous production trucks and trailers take up the spaces. People have to detour as sidewalks are blocked off. These production companies pay big money to the city for permits, but that money rarely trickles down to the affected communities.

Oh, and I was walking around recently and saw 50 NY cabs on the street ... oh wait I'm in NYC :D. Great shots Cos, what movie was this? Oh about I Robot, I never saw the film, but I read the book long ago. Judging from the trailer, the movie is very, very different from the book.
