With the Canon flashes having a tripod screw type mount, I find it to be a little more work than I'd care to mess with setting up a big heavy tripod and then mounting a couple ounce flash on top of it. Does anyone use a light, cheap, quick stand that still has the standard screw type mount for flashes?

Thanks!

Yes, go down to your local Ritz camera store. You know the place with all of the cheap tripods. Buy one of their $15 specials. For something lightweight like a flash, it works fine.

Yeah of course I could do that... I was just thinking of something like a cheap music stand that could be collapsed small, and just has the 3 feet at the bottom, not made for supporting much weight or 'off center' weight. Maybe I'll but some cheap music stands and just make my own.

Look into microphone stands. I've seen them at 15 bucks somewhere.

Actually fabricating some from some lightweight collapsable music stands is where I"m headed. I have some friends in machinist places :)

If it comes out professionally it might be handy as a quick reflector mount as well!
