I've found someone looking to sell there 5d body to me, but they are in the UK, and I'm in Canada. This is what he's proposed for doing the transaction, and since I'm woefully ignorant of anything outside of North America, I was wondering if this is legit.

Here is what he emailed me:

Yes i have the receipt for the camera and i've never used it. The process works like this, i will go at Royal Mail's office and let the package in their possession and start the process, they will notify you about this
and send you an email with an invoice with the tracking number and the instruction on how to complete the transaction. You'll have to send them the payment
for the items, after your transfer is verified the package will be on his way to your address, You'll have 5 days inspection period from the moment you have
the package. If you're satisfied with the purchase you can instruct the to release the funds to me If not, you can return the items and Royal Mail will make
a full refund minus the fees to return the package.

Is this how it will work? Does it sound legit?

See, I had thought it sounded shifty, and was looking around the Royal Mail thing's website but couldn't find any information on it, thats why I figured it would be a good idea to ask here.

Thanks guys!

Total scam. Royal Mail do not do any kind of escrow.

I hope you realised in time.

If you have the stomach for it, start winding the scammer up - have a look at www.491eater.com (external link)

A lot of fun can be had with these scum bags.

Thanks for all the replies guys :)

The body only was supposedly only $1400, so I figured it was worth the time to at least follow up on. Like I said above, as soon as he said we'd be doing it that way, I came here. I'm sure you've all been around long enough to know.

Either way, I emailed him back and said forget about it.

Thanks again!

If it's a POTN member that's attempting to sell it to you, then report them.

Way too cheap. Currently selling price for a good condition S/H 5D bodies here in the UK is £900-1000 (a hair under $2000)
