Question About Zenfolio Premium

I just had a question about the zenfolio premium accounts. I'm using the trial right now and don't know exactly everything you'll be getting in the premium version. To those who do have the premium version; are you able to allow users to download the watermarked version of the image and not the original? In the trial I have an option to allow them to download the original and that's it. Anyone who has the answer please reply! Thanks in advance.

I would suggest asking the question of the zenfolio staff.....they are pretty responsive.

That option is not currently available.

I don't foresee them doing that either, it seems like a useless feature to me. Would you want the feature for some reason?

Did you review the Features (external link) page?

So you can store full res files on Zenfolio as a backup, and also allow downloading of lower res files (for free or potentially for sale).

Thanks for your reply. Yes I saw the features page, but it doesn't have every detail such as the one in my question. The reason why I wanted this feature is because I take a lot of pictures at clubs and hand out business cards. I want them to be able to view the pictures and have the option of ordering prints. I also don't mind if they save the pictures and post it on their facebook (for example), just as long as it has my watermark logo on it. It somewhat gives me free promotion and my name will become more well known. Although if they have the option of downloading the full original copy full size with no watermark, they can easily go and print it themselves. It also gives me no credit. So this would be a very important feature for me and unfortunately since they don't have it I probably won't sign up.

There is a downloader available that allows you to download all of your original files (or just selected ones) if that's what you mean.

In one of the future releases I believe they are going to allow you to sell digital downloads as well.

If you set the permissions people can download the original now, or when the owner is logged in they can send direct links of several sizes to anyone.

Ah, I see your need for it now. I guess the best thing to do would be to manually (or with a photoshop action) watermark all of your images. But then any orders would have the watermark on them as well of course.

Perhaps set up a "download only" gallery where people can go and download the originals that you have watermarked and resized just for MySpace, FaceBook etc. It would take a bit more time but it's an option.

No, when you set the Zenfolio watermark on your gallery and then grant permissions to be able to download originals the download does not include the watermark. It's because the watermarks are overlays instead of altering your original photo.

They said it'll be avaliable in the future. I decided to send them an e-mail and this was this was their reply:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.

The feature you are looking for is not currently available. It is on the list of approved enahncements and will be added in the future.

You can check back with us from time to time or subscribe to the News feed (external link) for any updates.

Great, thanks for update. Their releases are about every 2 months. I'm guessing they'll release that option at the same time as the digital downloads, and I know people are pushing for that option so I am hoping it's in the next release. They just keep getting better and better.
