well ive just finished the images so you all can see what the fuss is about .

the more i use this lens the more i love it the bigma has been made redundent to walk around lens.

skywatcher ed80/600 f7.5 pro O.T.A

this image shows it all connected together what a beast

IMAGE: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/madas/40dconnectedhowlong.jpg

the focuser is all the way out which is at its C.F.D with the adapter of 21ft.
also notice the grayford focuser this is done by friction and not the wobbly (rack and pinion)

IMAGE: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/madas/40dconnectedhowlong2.jpg

the rear end and i dont quit now how apature's work on scope but i supose the f/no. comes from 80 in 600= 7.5 but the apature is bigger than that ?

IMAGE: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/madas/lensapature.jpg

the important bit doublet ed glass flp53 and this makes a lot of differance

( i was going to get the f5 150/750 refractor which cames with motor triopd but i stoped my self no ed glass.)

IMAGE: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/madas/edlens.jpg

are the bit that makes it all work camera adapter also nown as prime focus
tube etc.

note on this image far right eos m42 adapter then a little t-monunt then tube and finaly the direct slr mount which came with the scope.

IMAGE: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/madas/adapter.jpg

are you still with me good next.

i dont now if i've done this next test right but it show the D.O.F this was 600mm C.F.D 21ft on the ruler the 20cm make is in focus so not a lot realy.

IMAGE: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/madas/DOF.jpg

how sharp i here you say well this next image will answer that i can say nothing ells on the matter.

IMAGE: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/madas/sharp.jpg

and finaly what's it all about to get image of birds or other wildlife .

this image was with the 2xtc and 50mm extention tube + camera adapter C.F.D about 10ft.

IMAGE: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/madas/goldyed80copy.jpg

all this for £295.

That's essentially the same scope I had Jason. Nice mount. Is it nice and steady with that mount? Mine had nothing like that, which is probably why it was hard to use. :)

yes mitch very steady iven with extention tube and tc's the only thing that let me down is my tripos i have to realy tighten it up to use live view if not ther to much vertical movement so im on look for some thing that will give me low to the gound shots and stability.

andrew i've just put it on the scales with the 2xtc and 40d weight is 4.2kg's

canon ef 500f4 4kg no camera

many thanks

Cool set up Jason. Do you shoot astrophotography as well with this refractor?

The image quality you get is really very good. I have a Takahashi SKY 90 but I've yet to to give it a go for terrestrial imaging. It would probably do well at f/4.5.

I'm curious if you get any vignetting with your T-ring and the long "camera adapter" cylinder. It appears to narrow the light path a bit.

Nice setup. Of course, can one easily hike for couple of hours with that on the shoulders AND a tripod....? :)

I've got all the adapters needed and then some, I'm heavy into astrophotography. I just use my 100-400L for birding due to the ease of carrying on long treks. If you get a chance I'd like to see your Orion Neb shot. Thanks.

That's one beautiful image Jason. Very nice color correction. I can see why you're pleased with this scope for day and night shooting.

Thanks,
