Hey just a quick question.
Got my skyports a few weeks ago and been playing around with them.

I tried putting the skyport in the hotshoe but it wouldnt fire the flash, so i connected the pc port to my camera and everything worked fine.

I thought this was the way they were supposed to work, but after reading something online im under the impression it should be working from the hotshoe alone?

is that correct?

thanks

If you camera has a hotshoe you should get function without needing to connect a sync cord to the camera's PC port.

I have seen this issue on a couple of other web posts.

Give the hotshoe and the foot on the Skyport a nice brisk rubbing with a clean cloth.

If that does not fix it I would contact Elinchrom for a replacement or a repair.

Enjoy! Lon

Yup, sounds like a defective unit or dirty contacts. Mine works just fine on hotshoe.

This just happened with one of my transmitters and was easily fixable in about 30 seconds with a paper clip. The slide pin was bent in on mine.

1. Use a paper clip to "short" the connection between the side pin and the bottom pin of the transmitter. If it fires your flash, continue on - if not, send it in to be repaired.

2. Use the paper clip to gently (I am not responsible if you break it) pry the side pin out so that it makes better contact with the hotshoe.

3. Test it in the hotshoe and everything should work.
