This one stayed at the feeder long enough for me to get a shot.

Nice shot, I know what you mean about them staying long enough to get a decent photograph....

Nice one Chip. I figured out a way to keep them occupied longer than a second or two, jam peanuts into the bark of a tree or cracks in the wood, or even tie it to something with a string. Blue Jays love a challenge and will spend minutes trying to get it loose. ;)

Thank you Mitch, I will try that.
Thank you Gary.

I am going to take my camera off of Al Servo when I am taking pictures of birds that are still. I think that the lens is trying to refocus on other things just from my hand shaking. I might get better focus this way. I am learning.. :-)

I have a 300 non-IS version that does the same thing. Try AI Focus first though, cause if you have an IS lens with it turned on, it takes from half to almost one second for the IS to spin up, during which, the camera may not fire, or will fire and be out of focus.
