spot on, looks like the focus was were the wing joins the body so all the wing is sharp as it in the same plane of focus.

I wonder.....with 5 mkIII's under your belt and this one looking like it is doing it's job, at least in the photo's posted......Will you be looking for problems with this body with every OOF shot? I think you might.....I'm not trying to dig at a wound....Just wondering.
You can see for yourself if it is in focus or not, you were there to know the circumstances under which you were shooting so you have the best knowledge as to it's abilities....
I hope you can get past the problems and wish you the best

I feel that the camera is working fine, with a dull grey sky I had to run 1-2/3 ex/comp,so not the best conditions to take photos in.I think I will do a lot better with a bit of sun and some blue skies,,,,,,,,,,,,,Paul.

If you look hard enough, you'll ALWAYS find something wrong with it. Let it go man...things look good...enjoy it. It's a great camera.

I agree... Stop poking a dead animal in the eye. I would be thinking of better backgrounds and better lighting. If you don't have fun shooting it shows up! Enjoy your awesome camera.

Canon "Snappy".... Thanks Mom and Dad!

Looks pretty good to me considering the conditions you were shooting in...

One more 100% crop.

Hi Paul,

As others have said - they look fine/great, and I would echo that sentiment as well. I just wish my copy was as capable notwithstanding user error of course.

Good luck with it - it looks a winner to me.

Mark

i'de say invest in a better lens if you feel that you need a 100% crop to shoot that... perhaps a 600+1.4tc?

when shooting a flock of birds though, not all of them have to be razor sharp, in fact i've seen some amazing images where not a single bird is sharp...

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.
