I've never been a fan of HDR, but got bored and decided to play with it. After a few days I've come to the conclusion that HDR can either make or break the picture.

So did I make or break this picture? C&C please.

I like the car highlights and good capture of the shadow areas, but I don't like what happened with the brick - looks too florescent red to me....

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind!

Actually, I wanted to tone it down, too. But I couldn't figure out how to do that in Photomatix. I would have opened it up in Photoshop to tone it down. I'm just lazy...

Cal, it would have worked better had the G have clear corners.

Great job at the HDR. Personally, I can not tell its an HDR image, just looks like a well lit car. So good use of the HDR.

As for the previous comments about the brick and the corner lights, this can be easily fixed in photoshop. Mask and select the areas you want to adjust (the brick and corner lights) and use the selective color adjustment and maybe the saturation adjustment as well to cool down the reds/oranges a little. I think it will look awesome then. ;)

HDR is Love or Hate business in a very narrow spectrum of choice.
Your image is by far picture looking than full flagged HDR.

The sidemarkers are a bit too high contrast for my tastes, but other than that, it looks great!

BTW, what the heck is that thing in the middle of the front bumper...looks like a towing ring? Would like to see more pictures of that car though :drool

I can't shoot at the beach. For some reason, I attract beach bums and their Geiger counters.

Is that to say that the picture looks good, too? Or no? hah

I'd have to agree with the side markers. I'll tone them down a bit.

It's a tow hook.

Probably because I'm using a notebook monitor.

Nice photo! The only thing that stands out to me is the light blotch in the center of the brick wall. It just draws my eye away from the G35.

:D OK, so "you made the car look good". As opposed to "Nice ride." where they usually look like crap. ;)

LOL, thanks for the clarification.

I hate when people comment only on the car, or subject, itself rather than the picture. :(

Oh btw, forgot to say...Nice car!!!

Though I have to ask what do you expect when posting this in a sub-forum full of automobile nuts? Perhaps next time your subject should be a 1989 Ford Aerostar or a vehicle of equal stature! I'm pretty sure you'll get feedback only on the merit of the photograph and not the vehicle!!!
(Though there might be buffoons like me who have owned one and will sneak in the inevitable, "nice van!") :D

LOL, funny you mention that. My uncle actually has an '89 Aerostar. He lives 10 minutes away. Maybe I should snatch it from him to snap some pix. :p
