Nice stuff. My only comment is that I wouldn't have cut off the guy's head in the 2nd image. Otherwise, nice!

That was not intentional. Most of these kids dip down with their swing but this kid stands straight upright and I didn't adjust properly.

I think all of these would make for good event photos in which mom and dad are buying images of their student/athletes. Their well exposed, sharp, have filled frames with clean backgrounds and have good color saturation.

Might want to shoot batters vertical, for just this reason.

Otherwise, nicely done series.

Thanks Dennis. I did shoot both horizontal and vertical at this event. My problem was the 400 was probably too much for the situation. The 70-200 was a bit too loose and the aperture loss from the 1.4x was pushing my shutter speeds slower than I wanted. Most of my vertical shots were so tight L to R that I was losing the player out the back or the bat and ball out the front. When compounded with the 35mph+ wind pushing my 400 around like an America's Cup sail, I felt like I was shooting drunk. Over all I was having better luck horizontal except when the kid would stay straight upright though his swing. Looks like I need to order a 300 f/2.8. :-)

The only thing that made this somewhat acceptable to me was the bat flex and dust trail from the ball. Fortunately for me, his mom will buy blurry pictures of his shoes if I show them to her. She is an addict.

Thanks again for the feedback. Positive words from you, especially for baseball shots, means a lot.
