Got this gem tonight. Had to try it out right away. I think I got an extremely sharp copy.
My advice is: If you have been thinking about a short, fast, affordable prime, Get this lens!! Even if it needs to be sent in for calibration, it will be well worth it!!
Kath

First shot only cropped & resized. No PP at all. 2nd shot is 100% crop.
Iso 100
f/1.4

Looks like you got a great copy - congrats!! How's the focus speed?

I've been considering this lens for the 40D, but the focus concerns have kept me from buying it. I usually buy my lenses used here or on FM, but this is one lens that I would probably buy new just in case there are any focus issues with it.

It focuses quite quickly. I use it on my 40D and Xti with great results.

The in-focus looks awesome, but the blur of the cans looks strange to me. Like multiple overlayed images of the symbol

I was thinking the same thing. The bokeh looks "nervous" to me...though the focused object looks nice and sharp.

Focuses pretty fast. Took some more pics. The bokeh looks fine in other shots. Can't explain the pop can. My desk light was shining directly down on it if that would make a difference. Anybody have any ideas?

Congrats! The best prime on a 1.6 cropper in my opinion.

Originally bought the 50 1.4, after having the 1.8. Never even put it on the camera. I just knew I had to have the Sigma instead. Very happy.:D

Great lens. I have one too. Works on the 1dm3 as well at large apertures. So, it's a bonus.
