sorry for the question, but can the battery grip run on just one battery, or does it require 2 batteries to work?

thanks.

Yes , it's nice when the batteries get low - put one on charge - keep going and rotate in 10 minutes .
I keep a set of 6 AA's charged for flash [It only uses 4] and they store in tray .
If you want - just use the AA's till you can get some sterling tecks .

Sterlingtek (sp) are great. I've had mine for three years and no problems at all.

Just for general info - I own a opteka battery grip [about 14 months] . The little door thing you turn to release battery tray broke .
I ordered it , [opteka] spare batteries - another 2 batteries , etc before I bought the XTI [was hoping for a Xmas sale on them - didn't happen] and wanted to have everything before I got the camera .
Since then , I found this site - everyone says opteka is junk - so I ordered a Canon . It came today . Except for the name - everything looks the same . The battery trays from Canon fit into and work on the opteka .
Anyway the parts are interchangeable .
