Went out and purchased the 50 1.4 and could finally understand why people suggested getting fast primes. Now I have 2 and I'll probably have a few more before I get another zooom Gear: Canon 1Ds MkII, 35L, 85L, 135L, 24-105L

My Canon 85mm 1.8 (great for portrait work, which is what I do mainly), my nifty 50, and my sigma 105mm 2.8 Macro. All are excellent lenses, although my main beef with the nifty is that it hunts a LOT and needs a bit of coaxing to get it to focus for you. Most of the time I focus manually anyway. http://www.michaeljsamaripa.com

Yeah, but I hate focusing the Nifty since the focus ring is that front ring and my fat fingers sometimes slip and touch the front element...doh! "Ne nuntium necare"

It's still a good lens for the money though. 00silvergt wrote in post #5262007 Yeah, but I hate focusing the Nifty since the focus ring is that front ring and my fat fingers sometimes slip and touch the front element...doh! http://www.michaeljsamaripa.com
