This was my first time at shooting rugby and I have to say that I really enjoyed it.
Here are a couple from the INSEAD vs IESE game. IESE finally won, but that was a close one!

I think #4 looks cool. I feel like #2 should have been shot vertical. Were you shooting with the 70-200mm?

Yes, 70-200. It was my first session with it and my 40D. I found it quite challenging to get the focus right in AI-Servo using the central point only. My keepers rate is very low on that session!

Well that one wasn't very representative I guess, since it was my first try at rugby and also with my new equipment (camera and lens). I would say low 20s / high 10s.
I hope it will improve because it is one of the reason I upgraded from the 350D.

+ 1. My keep rate is very low.

I like all 4 pics, but there is not too much grass on that field!

I enjoy shooting rugby and trying to anticipate the play. I hope you don't mind me adding one pic to your thread, but here is a pic I took yesterday in failing light just before a downpour (with a 40D and 70-200 f/4 IS). Not as sharp as I would like, but I like the "between the legs" look ;).
