I've been away for a day and now home have played with the different switches and have actually isolated it to the IS... I've read comments that there is a sort of click related to parking the IS. I've been swapping between lenses to compare and don't have the same click on my 24-105.
Do you recon they use different IS systems?
Really apreciate your input here

Thanks
Nick.
the IS system on the 70-200 is much larger (physically more glass to move) than the 24-105, so when the glass gets locked back in place, you will notice it. I found that the 300 f2.8 doesn't make as much of a noise (no experience with a f4), then again it's a lot more metal between the IS and my ear. If you listen closely, you'll be able to hear the IS working on your 24-105 too, but it'll have to be in a quiet room... The 70-200 can be heard in a busy NYC street.
I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.
