I recently found a Canon P&S on the road and having been unable to locate the owner I realized the value of customizing the start up image on my own cameras to show, for example, my phone number and "Reward!".

So I managed to record and set a suitable image on my S5 and A95 that does show up on startup but only for a brief moment - too fast to really see what it is.

I can't find any way of setting the start up image to show for a longer time. Have I missed something in the manuals, or is is not possible?

I never heard about customizing the display time of the start image.

As both cameras have a swivel LCD, you may print the images on an auto-adhesive label and place it in the camera body behind the LCD.

It may be removed leaving no marks on your cameras. Perhaps I will do something similar on my Pro 1.

Thanks, Rafael, that's a good idea I can use even if someone does come up with a way to extent the startup display time.

I've heard of people putting an undeletable image on each of the CF cards with all the contact information too.

Yep. Just take a picture of your information etc and use that as the first picture on the memory stick. Just hope that the person sends it back

I used a Dymo LetraTag labeler and made paper labels with name, address, phones and e-mail and stuck them on the back of the body under the LCD. I wish there was a spot I could do that with my XT.
