Today a friend of mine brought over some kind of strobe light kit, not sure of the brand. We set it up two strobes on each side of the room, etc etc. I was playing with and got some pretty decent shots, for the first time user i suppose. My settings were 1/250 iso 100 5.6 or 5. The lens was a 50mm 1.4 on a 40D. So I wanted to blur the background more so I changed the aperture to maybe 2.5 and changed the shutter speed to 1/500. All the picture were kinda cut in half. Half of the picture would be black. What would cause this? Was the shutter speed to high? were the strobes flashing to fast? Any help with would be greatly appreciated.
