Hi eveyone. I came across this form today and I have been reading and reading.. Great stuff. Im totally an amature photographer, I have a canon S3 IS and I purchased a 58mm adaptor from ebay, I opted for the cheap just get the adaptor plan and after I ordered it I was told by a local camera shop that I can only use lenses for digital cameras with the adaptor, im wondering if this is true. I was reading a different post a little bit ago and someone had an olympus macro lense on there s3. Can I put any 58mm lense on the camera? Kind of a newbie question but it would be great if I could take advantage of local thrift stores..
Great form I await your replies.

What they meant is that you won't be able to use SLR lenses, only the adapter lenses (which predate digital, but weren't all that usable on film P&S cameras) that fit over a main lens. It is possible (see the A70 Macro thread, stickied at the top of this forum) to reverse an SLR lens in front of your caera's lns for macro work if you meant an Olympus SLR lens; most camera and lens makers also make "close-up" lenses, thin filters that screw onto the front of your lens, and they can be ued on any cmera.

Though I chose a Canon adapter and teleconverter for my S2, Lensmate seems to be a well liked source for adapter lenses for the S series cameras. URL below..

Canon lenses can be purchased at B&H, and other online stores. I personally reccomend B&H for the Canon products.
