Thanks all.

I am after a Canon 70-300mmf4/5.6 IS USM EF.
They call it: White Box stock - no cashback - Price £299
Any thought on "White Box" stuff?

Refurbished, or a customer return with bits/box missing so repacked. if it has a warranty then seems a good buy. Is a very decent lens.

Thanks condyk.

From their website:

"Brand new, white box with no barcode. These lenses are split from 40D/400D kits so have no box barcode so you cannot claim cashback. Still brand new with full warranty and instructions, both caps. The advanced 3-stop Image Stabilizer (IS) technology of the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens makes it the ideal telephoto zoom when shooting in lowlight and at slow shutter speeds."

I gave them a call and was assured that there is the full 12 month Canon warranty.
Will probably go ahead next week, and I'll let you know.

White box stock is brand new split from kits. It is not refurbed or returned kit.

I bought a 24-105 from them as "White Box Stock" it is a great lens and was a great price.

It can be. I have bought a refurb printer in a white box and I have also bought some computer gear as a customer return in a white box ;-)a

But box splitting is getting common it seems. I bought a 5D that was one half of a kit.

buzzyrabbit, look at this.

mailto:kerso1123@msn.com

Notice the name? This is from a 100-400 lens ad on ebay.
Is it the same person I wonder? Cos they're saying they can sell for cheaper in their ad. White box maybe?

Or even just send a PM to user "kerso" on POTN. That is how I find it most efficient to communicate with him. :)

And yes, I strongly recommend asking kerso for a quote as he really has by far the best prices and is a great guy!

And if you buy things that Canon offers cashback on then you will get that, too! I got my Canon cashback a couple of weeks ago on all the Canon gear I bought through him (17-55 f/2.8 IS, 70-200 f/4 IS, 580 EX II). :)

Best regards,

Anton
