Hi all

So a friend of mine still has a 420Ez...yes not the ex. He owns a 400d. I have a 580exII and I think he should get a newer flash since the 420ez is really old ( think it came out 89 ). So I wanted to ask you, if my advise is right or if the 420ez is still a good tool on a 400d for a hobby photographer.

420EZ is manual. 420EX is automatic. I like automatic. Their call.

EZs are working only in manual mode on digital cameras. So if you want to shoot studio, as it is manual mode, the EZs are quite OK (I have a 430EZ, and it is perfect as a master flash on a stand with umbrellas). Then, using an EZs in a camera hotshoe will be quite a pain. It will still be fully manual and it will require time and patience to get the setting for every shoot.

Gimmemore,

is there anyway to deactivate the standby mode for the 430EZ?
im using it as a slave and it goes on powersave mode after 90secs..
