A friend of mine is getting ready to be redeployed from Vegas to VA, and wanted to have some shots of his car in a Vegas shot that wasn't all casinos. Our solution? Drive North of town and get the city in the background, get some sunset shots and wait for the city to light up.

Now that the cult-like fans of the WRX have given me their feedback (which is sometimes extremely misguided) - I figured it is time to let photographers critique the shots.

I may have a super special shoot with some WRX's coming up in the near future, so I would like to be able to not mess it up!

And finally, my first true HDR attempt:

Thanks for looking!

Nice light in it, but #1 reminds me of a dog sniffing a wide angle lens. Why that crop?

In #2 are you using any filters? and what shutter rate? the sky looks amazing in it.

And your HDR looks good, it may be my screen but is there 2 dark spots (bonnet and c-pillar)?

Nice work,

Neil

Wanted to show the car and the sky, while using angles and crops differently than I have previously.

Only filter I have on the camera is a UV, I think for #2, I *may* have added a saturation layer in post to infuse a little more color.

It isn't just your monitor, I saw the dark spots on the HDR shot as well. I need to go through the source files and see if I can clean it up to remove those.

I like the wide angel of #1, which lens did you use. Also, the night shots are really nice, specially #3.

Thanks for the comments & compliments everybody!

I shot everything with the 5D and the Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L USM II on a cheap tripod.
Each shot posted was ambient light - except the third shot, I was painting with an LED flashlight.
