I ordered a 17-55 f2.8 today and put my 17-40 and 28-75 tamron on the market ..I really hate to sell my 17-40 but need the money to get the 17-55
am I crazy or did I make the right decision arrrrrrrrggg I hate selling an L
I dont use it much but love it
I think most people who have this lens love it because of the tremendous optics, f/2.8 and IS, and consider that combination worth the money. The non-L build is really a non-issue, since there is no equivalent L lens out there, and if, say, Canon would produce a 17-40/17-55 f/2.8 IS L lenst it would be way more expensive than the EF-S lens.
Of course if they came up with the 24-70 f/2.8 IS L, I'd want to snatch it up and love it to pieces, but you'd be talking big bucks!
Enjoy the heck out of your lens!
