Yellow-bellied sapsucker

After I got home from the heron rookery, found this guy in my back yard working over one of the trees. You can see his handiwork there, two or three holes with sap coming out. The sapsucker is fairly aggressive and chases away any other birds who come by. He was flying back and forth between trees, and the other birds wasted no time in finding that sap whenever he was absent.
