I am going to buy S5 IS camera, i heard they are either made in China or Japan. I found this camera from Walmart for $349 + tax it is made in Japan. While Amazon sells for $299 free shipping + no tax. I read some reviews people said $299 model probably made in China. So do you own S5 IS made in China? What are your experiences? If I buy from Walmart it will be around $380.

I doubt the price is any kind of reliable indicator of where the camera was made. WalMart's asking $520 for the same Digital Rebel XT that B&H Photo is selling for $450.

There is a useful thread that addresses this issue. The "search" feature is your friend...

yeah, there is plenty of threads on this subject.
but i can say the price has nothing to do with location.
i have two s5 cameras, one from each location and they
both work perfectly. i bought the china camera new but it
had some pixel problems and i shipped it back so in the meantime
i bought another one that was lightly used, it was made in japan.
both are identical in every way but since i have the china made
registered and an extended warranty for it, i will keep that one
and sell the japan model i think.
