Hello all,

I've been gaining a lot of knowledge from POTN. Just wanted to share some images of mine. Unfortuantely I had to use my Fuji S2 as the 40D lens is being fixed under warranty.

Well besides poor camera choice let me know what you think.

Not really, I met him selling Streetwise (A newspaper that homeless people sell to earn money and hopefully transition them to working again) outside a convenience store in Downtown Chicago on Michigan Avenue.

I believe that he suffered a sort of mental retardation as he and I were not really able to converse. I bought a copy of streetwise and gave him a little extra money and motioned with my camera. He nodded up and down so I understood that to be that I could take a couple of shots. I don't know if it qualifies as real street photography but I've noticed that panhandlers will allow you take their picture provided you give a little alms (I even took one guy to Subway and bought him a sandwich).

What an excellent first share! Very impressive - I like the Dave Hill effect on the second photo. BW suits the first pic well too. Welcome to the forum!

Those are both fantastic shots Great Job! Would you mind sharing some PP techniques used on the second photo?

Sure no problem, I've learned so much from the intarweb, you give some back every now and again.

I'll break it down from the bottom of the layers pile to the top

- Copy of the eyes only sharpened with unsharp mask
- Color Correction Curves Adj Layer
- Hue / Saturation Adj layer to desaturate the blue and green collar
- Levels adj layer set to Multiply for density
- Levels adj layer set to multiply to lessen highlights (highlights were selected with Color Range)
- Levels adj layer set to multiply to intensify shadows (shadows were selected with Color Range)
- 50% gray fill layer set to overlay. "Paint with light" blacks (at varying opacities) for shadows and white (at varying opacities) for highlights.
- Levels adj layer set to multiply for cheek burning
- Levels adj layer set to multiply for nose wrinkle burning
- Levels adj layer set to multiply for collar burning
- Levels adj layer set to multiply for vignetting
- Curves adj layer S-Curve for contrast
- Duplicate layer of back ground run thru hi-pass filter, opacity of 60% set to overlay.

I definitely say check out retouchpro.com for tips (I learned about PWL there). And my selections and adjustment layer workflow I learned from Katrin Eismann's book.

Hope this helps!
